Inspired Evolution is advisor to Africa’s first ever specialized clean technology (‘cleantech’) investment fund: Evolution One Fund. The fund is a 10 year late-stage venture and expansion capital fund with approximately ZAR 700 million in committed capital from third party investors.

The fund conducted its first close in July 2008 at US$54 million raised from four international investors: IFC (a member of the World Bank Group), Castleway Properties (owned by the Tchenguiz Family Trust), the Swiss Investment fund for Emerging Markets (Sifem) and the Finnish Fund for Industrial Cooperation (Finnfund). The fund has conducted a second and final close of investors securing an additional ZAR172 million. Evolution One Fund’s investment territory is restricted to southern African SADC countries.
